Jumbo offers a 2-year warranty on Jan van Haasteren puzzles. This warranty period is determined on the basis of your proof of purchase. The purchase date is used as day 1 of the warranty period. It is therefore important that you keep your proof of purchase well.

Unfortunately, we have to disappoint people in this. The main reason for this is that our range of puzzles is so large that it is not possible to offer this service for all puzzles. In addition, a puzzle is printed and punched like an entire plate. During the production of our puzzles, no matter how advanced our machines are, color differences and cutting deviations can occur. This means that the exchange of pieces between different puzzles is not possible.
-
Unfortunately, the factory is not open to the public.

You can find the puzzles in the following countries: Australia, USA, Canada, Brazil, New Zealand, The Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, France, United Kingdom, Ireland, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Poland, Russia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Mexico, Slovakia, Lithuania, Iceland, Peru, Chile, Argentina, South Africa, China.

We only put example posters in puzzles where the image on the box is smaller than an A4 size. You can think of the 500 pieces or 950 pieces of puzzles. Also with the combi-puzzles (e.g. 2-in-1, 3-in-1) we put a sample poster of the relevant puzzles in the box.
Our single 1000 or more pieces of puzzles do not include a sample poster because the image on the front of the box is A4 or larger.
If you have a puzzle that must contain a poster but it is missing, you can request a printed A4 poster from our customer service.

Above all, it means less plastic waste and the use of more sustainable materials.
- The puzzle box is no longer wrapped in plastic shrink film but sealed with a sticker. This reduces the plastic waste that would normally be thrown away immediately after opening the product.
- The bag containing the puzzle pieces is now made of paper instead of plastic. The raw material for paper (wood) is renewable and can be easily recycled. If you don’t wish to use the bag to store the puzzle pieces, you can simply dispose of it with your paper waste so it can be recycled again.
- In addition to recycled cardboard, we now also use paper from responsibly sourced materials.
-
It’s difficult to calculate the exact impact, as various factors play a role. However, using less packaging and choosing alternatives made from renewable, easily recyclable materials is undoubtedly an improvement. For this puzzle, the plastic shrink film has been replaced with a sticker, reducing the amount of packaging used. The plastic bag has also been replaced with a paper one. The raw material for paper (wood) is renewable and can be readily recycled.
-
The paper bag offers several advantages compared to the plastic bag. Paper produces fewer greenhouse gases, and its raw material (wood) is renewable. Paper also increasingly comes from sustainably managed forests, including the paper we use. Its environmental impact is further reduced when it is recycled. Unfortunately, plastic bags are often still not as easily recyclable as paper. If you no longer use the paper bag to store the puzzle pieces, please dispose of it with your paper waste so it can be recycled.
-
The bag isn’t resealable on its own, but it can still be used to store the puzzle pieces. Tip: You can reseal it with something simple like a paperclip. If you don’t use it, please dispose of the paper bag separately with your paper waste so it can be recycled.
-
To make our products and packaging more sustainable, we focus on reducing plastic and using more sustainable, recyclable materials such as paper. Unfortunately, it’s not yet possible to make the paper bag resealable, but it can still be used to store the puzzle pieces.
Tip: You can reseal the bag with something simple like a paperclip.
-
Yes, you can. Simply place the paper bag with your paper recycling so it can be processed again. That way, we can turn it into a lovely new puzzle.

Jan van Haasteren puzzles are made from 100% recycled cardboard, identifiable by the Play Smarter logo on the packaging. This cardboard has always been the most sustainable option available on the market and therefore remains unchanged.
-
Recycled cardboard is made by reusing materials and giving them a second life. Producing recycled cardboard also requires less water than making new cardboard. Jan van Haasteren puzzles have been made from 100% recycled cardboard for many years, identifiable by the logo on the packaging. This cardboard has always been the most sustainable option on the market and therefore remains unchanged.
-
The glue and ink are bio-based, and the varnish used for the perfect puzzle finish is water-based.
-
To ensure the box doesn’t get damaged, we recommend cutting the sticker through the middle with a small knife or scissors.
-
The products and the way they are made are being adjusted step by step. In spring 2022, at least two new puzzles will be launched that follow the new production method. The change will first be visible on the puzzle Highland Games (1000 pieces). Our aim is to produce all new 1000-piece Jan van Haasteren puzzles in this way, and we’re working hard to make that happen.
-
The box design takes the placement of the sticker into account, so it is never applied over text or images. The sticker is currently transparent, but it is expected to be replaced by a paper sticker in the future. Even then, the full image will remain clearly visible.
