New Jan van Haasteren Exhibition at MoCA

Good news for fans: starting 7 March 2026, the Museum of Comic Art (MoCA) in Noordwijk presents the exhibition Jan van Haasteren – The Missing Pieces of a Comic Artist. In the year of Jan’s 90th birthday, the museum highlights the rich career behind his world-famous puzzles.

The exhibition features more than 50 original drawings and follows Jan’s long career as a comic artist, illustrator and advertising illustrator. From his time at the Marten Toonder Studios and work for magazines such as Pep, Sjors and Jippo, to his role in the satirical magazine De Vrije Balloen, visitors will discover how his unmistakable style developed.

Of course, the puzzles are included too: original puzzle designs reveal how Jan’s visual language grew into a worldwide phenomenon.
